Hyderabad, August 17: The Gujarat government has released 11 convicts serving life imprisonment in the Bilkis Bano gang-rape case, after which the Gujarat government has been targeted by the opposition. All opposition parties from Congress are asking questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On 15 August Independence Day, all the convicts in Godhra Jail were released. After the convicts came out of the jail, Tilak was applied to them and Aarti was performed, the pictures of which also went viral on social media. Along with this, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao has requested PM Modi in the Bilkis Bano case.

All the 11 life convicts in the 2002 Bilquis Bano gang-rape case were released from the Godhra sub-jail under the amnesty policy of the Gujarat government, which was announced by Industries Minister in the Telangana government K.T.R. “I request the Prime Minister to intervene in the case in which the rapists of Bilquis Bano were released,” said on Wednesday on the release of the accused.

He said that the Gujarat government’s order should be reversed as it is giving a wrong message that the rapist is welcomed out of the jail. Along with this, he said that changes should be made in IPC, CrPC and Juvenile Justice Act.
