New Delhi, August 16: The CBI on Tuesday recorded the statement of Congress MP KC Venugopal in connection with allegations of sexual harassment of the woman. Venugopal is known to be the main culprit in Kerala’s sensational solar scam, officials said, adding that Venugopal was questioned last week.
According to CBI officials, the Kerala Police has registered six separate FIRs against six leaders including Venugopal, former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and others. The CBI had taken over these cases last year on the recommendation of the state government, officials said.
In a letter to the Commissioner of Police dated 19 July 2013, the woman made allegations of sexual harassment and corruption against Chandy, some of his ministers and several Congress and UDF leaders, including two former Union ministers.
Apart from Venugopal and Chandy, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, MLA AP Anil Kumar and BJP leader AP Abdullah Kutty are accused in six cases. A case was registered against BJP leader AP Abdullah Kutty in 2014 when he was a Congress MLA from Kannur. Later he left the Congress and joined the BJP.
