Congress MPs uproar over ‘misuse of investigative agencies’ in Lok Sabha, Sonia Gandhi steps into well


New Delhi, August 03: There was commotion in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Congress MPs created an uproar, accusing the Center of “misusing central investigative agencies”. Congress president Sonia Gandhi also joined the Congress MPs by descending into the well. During this, there was a lot of sloganeering. Along with this, DMK MPs also reached the well and raised slogans of ‘ED, Modi down down’ and ‘Narendra Modi answer’. Some MPs from NCP and Trinamool Congress also protested by standing near their seats. The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were suspended twice due to the uproar. First from 11.10 am to 12 pm, then from 12.15 pm to 2 am, the Lok Sabha proceedings were disrupted.

When the proceedings of the House started in the afternoon, the Congress MPs insisted that their leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary be allowed to raise the issue in the House. On this, Chairman Rajinder Agarwal did not allow them to speak, after which the MPs started shouting slogans. Amid the commotion, DMK MPs Dayanidhi Maran, Shashi Tharoor and Karti P Chidambaram were seen persuading senior Congress leaders to come to the floor of the House. At this Sonia Gandhi stood up and joined the protesters on the floor of the House and asked Chidambaram to proceed.
