New Delhi, August 6: Currently, the threat of Omicron, a new form of corona virus, is not averted in India. The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) has reviewed genomic surveillance data of variants in a weekly meeting. After this meeting, INSECO said that a new subtype of Omicron has been detected in India, which has been detected in some states of the country. News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that there is currently only one new sub-form of Omicron in India. Apart from this there is no variant.
Sources have said that corona cases are increasing in India but hospitalizations and deaths are still low. Sources said, “We review the data every week, but there is no need to panic as there are no hospitalizations. No new form has been found so far.
Let us inform you that INSAC will soon issue a bulletin about the new subform of Omicron. According to a bulletin issued by Insacco on July 11, Omicron and its variants are being seen prominently in India. The new sub variant of Omicron currently available in India is the BA.2.75 sub variant.
The report also noted that the BA.2.75 subtype carried more mutations in the spike protein and other genes of SARS-CoV-2. It has also been reported that the variant is being closely monitored.
