In the case of illegal animal smuggling, Chennai Air Customs said that based on intelligence inputs, a male passenger coming from Bangkok on flight number TG-337 was intercepted by customs officials.

According to the Chennai Air Customs report on suspected illegal animal smuggling, 1 Day Brezza monkey, 15 kingsnakes, 5 baby pythons and 2 Aldabra tortoises were recovered during check-in baggage check.

Chennai Air Customs said the live animals were imported illegally. Animals have been deported from AQCS (Animal Quarantine and Certification Service).

Animals sent by Thailand

In the case of suspected illegal smuggling of live animals, Chennai Air Customs said the animals were sent back to their country of origin via Thailand Airways in consultation with AQCS. Further investigation is on in the case of animal trafficking.
