Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to New Delhi was aimed at getting money and loans to clear outstanding bills of contractors instead of seeking aid for flood victims.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister on Monday, Mr. Revanth Reddy said that instead of solving the problems of farmers due to heavy rains and floods, the Chief Minister has tried to raise funds to clear the outstanding bills of contractors.
Farmers in the state have suffered heavy losses due to floods and rains in the last one month. Out of a total of 72 lakh acres, about 15 lakh acres of farmers’ crops were destroyed, due to which an economic loss of Rs 1500 crores was incurred. The R&B, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation, Municipal and Power departments have suffered a loss of around Rs 1,400 crore.
