Suspected separatists hurled a grenade at a shop selling the Pakistani national flag in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Thursday night, killing one person and injuring 14. However, no one has yet taken responsibility for the attack in Quetta. According to the police, the attack took place at a roadside shop. Senior police officer Fida Hussain said that the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The spokesperson of the provincial health department, Wasim Baig, said that the condition of one of the injured is serious. After this incident, security has been increased in the areas around the attack.

Earlier, a Pakistan Army helicopter deployed for flood relief operations in Balochistan crashed on Tuesday after losing contact with ATC. According to army officials, the lieutenant general and five senior army officers were killed in the helicopter. According to Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar, Media Wing Inter Services Public Relations of Pakistan Army, the wreckage of the helicopter deployed for flood relief operations was found at Musa Goth, Winder, Lasbella. According to reports, all 6 officers and soldiers including the commander of the 12th Corps, Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali, were killed in the helicopter. He said that according to the preliminary investigation, bad weather is being explained as the cause of the accident.
