On Tuesday, the case of the viral video of the Bengaluru outlet of the multinational pizza company Domino’s has come to light. In the video, a toilet brush is seen dangling over kneaded pizza dough. Because of which questions were raised on food safety standards at Domino’s. A Twitter user named Sahil Karnani shared the picture and wrote, “This is how Domino’s serves us fresh pizza! Disgusting.” The user claimed that the picture was from a Domino’s outlet located on Hosa Road in Bengaluru.
FSSAI had sought a response
On Tuesday, the FSSAI initiated action after a case of toilet brushes hanging on pizza dough came to light at a Domino’s outlet in Bengaluru. It was stated on behalf of the authority that appropriate action is being taken in this matter under the regulatory provisions under the FSS Act, 2006. After which the FSSAI sought a response from the FBO in the matter.
After the matter came to light, Domino’s said that our brand has always followed the ‘highest standards of hygiene and food safety’. We follow world class food safety protocols. We follow a zero tolerance policy on violations of standards. We have taken cognizance of this incident and now the matter will be fully investigated.
FSSAI has issued a notice
In this case, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued a spot memo to the Domino’s outlet operator. In which attention has been paid to the deficiencies in compliance with food safety standards in the outlet. Along with this, an explanation has also been sought on the complaint. Further action will be taken after receiving the response from the authority.
Instructions to improve the system in 15 days
FSSAI has given a maximum of 15 days to rectify the deficiencies found in inspection. On receipt of clarification on the notice on behalf of Domino’s, the Officer (State Licensing) Bangalore Urban District has been nominated for action under the FSS Act.
