A controversy has arisen over the posters of Tipu Sultan and Veer Savarkar in Bangalore. Protests over Veer Savarkar posters in Shivamogga have intensified after Tipu Sultan’s posters were torn down. The matter escalated to a stabbing. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Police has arrested four persons in connection with the stabbing that took place in Shivamoga on Monday. Three of them have been identified as Nadeem (25), Abdul Rahman (25) and Zabiullah. A case under Section 307 of the IPC has been registered against the arrested persons.

Simultaneously, while escaping from the police, Zabiullah was shot in the leg. Additional Director General of Police Alok Kumar said Nadeem was involved in communal clashes during a Ganesh procession in Shivamogga in 2016. He said that the police is also investigating whether the arrested accused are related to any organization or not. Alok Kumar said that it seemed that the incident was done in a planned manner.

A man named Prem Singh was stabbed to death in Shivmoga’s Gandhi Bazar area a few hours after the brawl over Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s poster being put up in Ameer Ahmed Circle on Independence Day. Two factions clashed on Monday over Savarkar and 18th-century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan.
