Aamir Khan’s film Lal Singh Chadha is releasing next week on 11th.
Two big stars of Hindi films, Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ are releasing on the 11th of next week.
However, people on social media are campaigning to boycott these two films for various reasons. But are these boycott campaigns really having any effect?
Movies ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ are trending on social media this week. Many people are not only demanding a boycott of these two films, but also of these two actors and of Bollywood.
A look at social media trends shows that the relationship between Bollywood and its audience is changing. However, according to experts, it is difficult to say how much the Hindi film industry will be harmed by these appeals of boycott.
In 2020, Bollywood has not yet recovered from the huge loss due to the closure of cinema halls for several months due to the Corona epidemic. Not only this, after this, when the cinema halls opened, many films became flops one after the other.
Amidst these troubles of Bollywood, several films from South India achieved tremendous success with the help of Hindi audiences. Seeing this, many experts of this industry have predicted that Bollywood will be in big trouble.
Lal Singh Chadha is an adaptation of the famous Hollywood movie ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Hollywood actor Tom Hanks. Along with this, in Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar played the role of a brother who took responsibility for four sisters. A lot of money and hopes are at stake on these two films.
Right-wing ideologues on social media are targeting these two film stars or others associated with these films for their past statements and terming them as ‘anti-India’ or ‘anti-Hindu’.
On the alleged increased attacks on minorities and ‘religious intolerance’ in the country after the BJP came to power in May 2014, Aamir Khan said that he too has been feeling for the last 6-8 months that the country is is ‘insecurity’. India and the atmosphere of ‘fear’ is increasing.
He had told about his then wife Kiran Rao that Kiran had advised him to leave the country in such an environment.
After these statements, Aamir Khan came under the target of Hindutva in 2015. However, Aamir Khan accused the statement of being taken out of context. He publicly defended himself saying that he loves India very much.
This week Aamir Khan said he was “sad” that people really believed he didn’t like India.
Talking to the media, Aamir Khan said, “I want to assure everyone that this is not the case, so please don’t boycott my films.”
