The PIJ rocket launches were in response to an Israeli military operation called Operation Breaking Dawn, which sought to prevent PIJ from launching impending attacks by the Israeli government.

Israel launched Its airstrikes Friday afternoon and killed the PIJ’s leader, Taisir al-Jabari – just days after the US killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
